When it pleases it cloaks itself in waves of bronze.

Grains of which sink whoever dares resist.

It rises tall to address the clouds.

Then helps their tears turn to mist.

It cracks and falls as it pleases,

and stands still when it sees fit.

It calls upon the wind to wash who it ceases,

and it thirsts, and absorbs the sea in its pit.

With man in its affliction,

it has been conquered and claimed,

uncharted, unclaimed,

surrendered, invaded, barren and blamed.

But every man must understand.

That through man’s fire and his ice.

The land remains its own,

and for no man, belongs the land.
